The Department of Neurology is seeking an Epilepsy Neurologist to join our growing academic clinical faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical). This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinician-educator interested in developing a comprehensive epilepsy program, including medical and surgical care, in a supportive academic environment that values work-life balance and scholarly activity.
Position Highlights
- Develop and lead a dedicated Epilepsy and Epilepsy Surgery program, including evaluation and management of complex seizure disorders and surgical candidates
- Minimal call responsibilities, supporting work-life balance
- Protected time and infrastructure for clinical research, including access to a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC)
- Combine subspecialty epilepsy care with general neurology practice
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Practice at John Dempsey Hospital and affiliated outpatient clinics within a collaborative, collegial department
Clinical Focus
The successful candidate will provide evaluation and management for patients with all forms of epilepsy, including:
- Refractory and complex seizure disorders
- Pre-surgical evaluation for epilepsy surgery candidates
- Coordination with multidisciplinary teams for surgical planning and follow-up
The role also includes general neurology care, including cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, and other complex neurologic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient and inpatient neurology care, with a focus on epilepsy and epilepsy surgery evaluation
- Perform inpatient consultations and admissions at John Dempsey Hospital
- Participate in a minimal and shared call schedule
- Teach and supervise learners in clinic, hospital, and procedural settings
- Develop and grow an epilepsy clinical program, integrating teaching and research
- Engage in scholarly activity with dedicated CRC support for clinical trials, registry management, and regulatory coordination
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Neurology
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology
- Fellowship training in Epilepsy and Epilepsy Surgery
- Interest in academic medicine, program development, and clinical research
