MedStar Health - the largest healthcare system in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region - is growing our Nighthawk Radiology Division and seeking Diagnostic Radiologists for evening and overnight remote opportunities. This is a fully remote position open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.

Position Highlights

  • Academic and clinical opportunities available
  • Final interpretations for after-hours CT and ultrasound studies
  • Some X-ray coverage with occasional MRI interpretation
  • 24/7 dedicated PACS support
  • 24/7 call center support for critical results reporting
  • 7- or 8-hour shifts
  • Preliminary reads utilized during high-volume periods or complex cases
  • Collaborative shared coverage model for after-hours provider and technologist questions
  • Expected productivity of 9–10 RVUs per hour, with incentives for higher productivity

Schedule Options

Compared with many emergency radiology practices, our shifts are designed to support work-life balance with shorter overnight coverage blocks, typically 8 hours.

Overnight Schedule

  • Approximately 17 working weeks annually
  • 1 week on / 2 weeks off rotation
  • Monday–Sunday: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Evening Schedule

  • Approximately 23 working weeks annually
  • Periodic 3-week breaks built into the schedule
  • Monday–Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Hybrid Evening/Overnight Schedule

  • Weekdays: 12:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Weekends: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Practice Environment

  • Coverage across multiple hospitals and urgent care centers throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia
  • Includes coverage for a Level I Trauma Center

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia
  • Fellowship training preferred
  • Must maintain licensure in the state from which readings are performed

Compensation Details

$500K

The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level, etc. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations.
