Outpatient Orthopedic Hand Surgery – Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) – Washington, DC

MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the largest hospital in the MedStar Health system and a premier academic medical center in Washington, DC, is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Orthopedic Hand Surgery team in a fully outpatient role. ---

Position Overview

  • Practice Setting: 100% Outpatient Orthopedic Hand (based at MWHC)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours
  • Patient Population: Operative and non-operative hand and upper extremity conditions

This provider will function as a key clinical member of the hand service line, serving as the primary APP for the specialty while collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons and a strong APP network. ---

Key Responsibilities

  • Independent provider clinic
  • Managing your own panel of patients
  • Evaluation and treatment of new and return hand and upper extremity patients
  • Care of both surgical and non-surgical orthopedic hand conditions
  • In-office procedures as appropriate to training and privileging

Team Structure & Support

  • Work alongside a collaborative orthopedic team
  • Partner with 6 APPs within the orthopedic service line
  • Be part of a large, well-established APP community - nearly 500 APPs at MWHC
  • Strong interdisciplinary and specialty support within a major tertiary care center

Qualifications

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (FNP or ACNP)
  • Eligible for licensure in Washington, DC
  • New graduates are welcome to apply; prior orthopedic or musculoskeletal experience is a plus
  • Comfortable practicing with a high level of autonomy in an outpatient environment

USD $115,003.00 - USD $143,619.00 /Yr.

Compensation Details

$115-143k

The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
