Washington DC Region - Experienced Full-Time Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider
MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, located in the heart of our nation’s capital, are seeking experienced Critical Care APPs. In this role, critical care APP's work autonomously but collaboratively with intensive care physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to provide high quality and cost-effective care to patients in critical condition.
Essential Job Duties include:
- Perform history and physical examination of patients.
- Establish appropriate medical diagnoses based on patient history, chart review, physical exam, lab testing, and radiographic imaging
- Initiate and manage appropriate therapeutic interventions for various pathologies including respiratory failure, heart failure, shock, and acid-base disturbances and renal failure
- Present patients on daily rounds with the ICU attending and multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with all involved care teams including other consultants
- Perform bedside procedures including insertion of central venous, non-tunneled dialysis, and arterial catheters, chest tubes, and thoracentesis.
- Communicate between healthcare professionals to promote safe patient transition between shifts, services, and/or levels of care.
- Educate and supervise new graduate APPs and students where appropriate
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program.
- NCCPA (physician assistant) or AGACNP (nurse practitioner) certification.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- One year of critical care experience or in-patient hospital medicine is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in advanced procedures.

Compensation Details
$120-180k
The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level, etc. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations.
