Job Description:

UToledo Health and the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences has a faculty opening for an Ultrasound Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

The Department of Emergency Medicine seeks a board-certified or board-eligible physician who has completed an Emergency Medicine residency and Emergency Ultrasound fellowship.

This position offers the opportunity to build upon the academic affiliation between the College of Medicine (UT) and a large, vibrant community hospital, expanding opportunities for fellows, residents, and students, increasing the expertise of full-time faculty, and enhancing research.

The Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and research. The Ultrasound Director will lead point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) education across graduate and undergraduate medical education, supporting curriculum development, competency assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Lead ultrasound education for Emergency Medicine residents and medical students, including didactics, hands-on training, and competency assessments.
• Develop, implement, and manage the ultrasound curriculum, including resident rotations, orientation, and longitudinal training.
• Monitor learner progress through scan tracking, proficiency assessments, structured feedback, and remediation.
• Collaborate with residency and medical school leadership to advance ultrasound education and provide regular reporting to program leadership.
• Serve as core faculty in the Emergency Medicine residency, contributing to teaching, mentorship, conference leadership, bedside instruction, and scholarly activity.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine residency and Emergency Ultrasound fellowship
• Current, unrestricted Ohio medical license before starting the position
• At least 5 years of clinical experience
• Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure positive patient experiences
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
