  • The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and OU Health invites applications for full-time academic Emergency Medicine faculty physicians to join one of the nation's newest and fastest-growing academic departments.

    Clinical Practice

    Faculty provide comprehensive emergency care across a diverse network of practice settings including:

    • OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center (OUMC), Oklahoma's flagship academic medical center and nationally verified Level I Trauma Center
    • OU Health Edmond Medical Center
    • OU Health Free-Standing Emergency Departments in South Oklahoma City and Yukon

    Together, these clinical sites offer a unique breadth of experience spanning high-acuity trauma, critical care, tertiary referral medicine, community emergency medicine, and innovative models of emergency care. Faculty enjoy a dynamic clinical practice with opportunities to care for a diverse patient population across multiple settings.

    Academic Mission

    Faculty play a central role in the educational mission of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine by:

    • Teaching, supervising and mentoring Emergency Medicine residents and rotating residents
    • Teaching, supervising and mentoring medical students during clinical clerkships
    • Delivering didactic lectures, simulation training, and procedural education
    • Contributing to curriculum development and educational innovation

    Scholarship and Professional Development

    Robust mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and institutional resources support faculty in developing successful academic careers, presenting at national meetings, publishing scholarly work, obtaining extramural funding, and pursuing leadership opportunities.

    Qualifications

    • Hold an MD or DO degree (or equivalent)
    • Be board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM)
    • Be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma
    • Demonstrate excellence in patient-centered clinical care
    • Possess a passion for teaching, mentorship, and learner development
    • Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly activity appropriate for an academic faculty appointment

    Faculty appointments are available at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor levels. Academic rank, leadership opportunities, and compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic accomplishments.
