Locum Physician – Emergency Medicine (Level 2)

W.W. Hastings Hospital, Cherokee Nation

Locum / Contract

Start Date: December 1, 2025 End Date: March 7, 2026

• 12-hour shifts (Days and Nights)
• Typical shifts: 7a–7p, 8a–8p, 10a–10p, 11a–11p, 12p–12a, and 7p–7a
• 3 days per week (flexible scheduling)
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

W.W. Hastings Hospital (Cherokee Nation) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine Physician with strong experience in Emergency or Urgent Care settings. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients of all ages in a busy, high-volume emergency department.

• Provide emergency medical care for patients presenting with a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat 2.5–3 patients per hour in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with nursing and support staff to ensure effective, patient-centered care.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Work collaboratively with on-site specialists and hospitalists to manage complex cases.
• Participate in shift coverage, including day, night, weekend, and holiday rotations.
• Volume: ~230 patients per day (combined ED and Urgent Care)
• Bed Count: 33 total (13 ER, 20 ER overflow)
• Coverage: Double physician coverage per shift
• Backup Support:
• 24/7 Pediatric and Hospitalist coverage
• On-call: Orthopedics, Cardiology (STEMI), ENT, Podiatry, Nephrology, OB, Behavioral Health
• No inpatient dialysis
• MD or DO with a valid Oklahoma medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or Family Medicine with substantial ED experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department or Urgent Care settings
• Certifications required:
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Proficiency in Cerner EHR preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to handle high patient volumes and acuity levels
