  • Job Summary:

    The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time professor, associate or assistant level professor (CHS) or clinical professor, clinical associate professor or clinical assistant professor to join our faculty.

    Candidates with an interest in these areas are considered: general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, disorders of swallowing, clinical research and/or other aspects of clinical gastroenterology as practiced in a tertiary care center.

    Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will provide direct patient care at UW Hospital and Clinic, the Wm. Middleton Veteran's Affairs Hospital and Meriter Hospital and at UW Health approved locations as well as outreach locations. The primary clinical practice will include procedural, inpatient, and ambulatory care, to include endoscopy procedures, as well as sub-specialty care in gastroenterology. The candidate will also do scholarly work, including research as well as teaching medical students, residents and fellows.

    The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Duties include 60-80% direct patient care at UW Health's main campus, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending; proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants; 20-40% protected time to develop and teach a research or education program and to engage in related scholarly activity.

    The candidate will also have access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including e-Consults, committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.

    Terminal Degree
    MD, DO, or equivalent

    Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in Gastroenterology required.

    For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

    For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

    License/Certification:

    Required
    ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification
    Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified with Certification in Gastroenterology

    Must be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license
