The Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist to lead and grow our division. The Division Chief of Allergy and Immunology will be charged with delivering state-of-the-art clinical care to children with allergic and immunologic conditions across our Medical Center's care delivery platforms in the Saint Louis region and beyond. The Chief will also expand and innovate across the Division's research and education programs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to envision and realize the future growth of an outstanding Allergy and Immunology program, housed within the nationally recognized and growing Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and Saint Louis University.
The division provides clinical care to children with allergic and immunologic diseases, including
- Asthma
- Allergic Conjunctivitis
- Urticaria/Angioedema
- Eosinophilic Esophagitis/Gastroenteritis
- Anaphylaxis
- Primary Immune deficiencies
Our allergy and immunology faculty physicians are recognized as national experts in the treatment of asthma, allergies, and immune deficiency diseases, and are actively involved in developing and updating national and international patient care guidelines for improved diagnosis and treatment of allergic disorders and asthma. Our faculty treat a wide range of allergic and respiratory conditions, are all board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and include those who have served on its board of directors.
Division members are active in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI), the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), and the World Allergy Organization (WAO) serving on committees, presenting talks and abstracts. As a teaching hospital, medical students and house staff regularly rotate through our clinics. This offers our faculty and fellows excellent teaching opportunities that also include participation in a variety of conferences. The division also regularly provides specialized electives for pediatric residents interested in advanced A/I areas.
The division also supports an active fellowship training program. The allergy and immunology fellowship program at Saint Louis University is a single, totally integrated, pediatric-internal medicine program that provides comprehensive exposure to allergy, asthma and immunology in children and adults, with an emphasis on the provision of evidence based clinical medicine. Entrance into the program requires board eligibility in either internal medicine or pediatrics. Experience is provided in both clinical and basic research. Successful completion of our program confers eligibility for certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, a conjoint board of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics.
The Immunodeficiency Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is a referral center for the Jeffrey Modell Foundation (JMF) and Immunodeficiency Foundation (IDF). The division works with the Bone Marrow Transplantation Division in transplantation of severe T-cells immunodeficiency and other Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders.
