Orthopedic Surgeon - Des Moines

SpineSearch is partnering with a well-established, physician-owned orthopedic practice in the Des Moines, Iowa area to identify a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Orthopedic Surgeon to join its growing team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a fellowship-trained or experienced General Orthopedic Surgeon seeking to build a comprehensive practice within a collaborative, physician-led organization. The incoming surgeon will develop a broad-based orthopedic practice, treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions involving the upper and lower extremities, fractures, joint disorders, sports injuries, and general orthopedic trauma.

The practice offers immediate access to an established referral network, experienced clinical and surgical support staff, and a state-of-the-art physician-owned ambulatory surgery center (ASC). This is a true partnership-track opportunity with the potential for ownership in the practice's ASC, imaging services, and other ancillary revenue streams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad spectrum of orthopedic conditions involving the upper and lower extremities.
• Perform a wide range of general orthopedic procedures, including fracture care, arthroscopy, joint preservation procedures, and other general orthopedic surgeries.
• Develop individualized operative and non-operative treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices.
• Manage acute injuries, degenerative conditions, sports-related injuries, and general orthopedic trauma.
• Perform appropriate outpatient procedures within the physician-owned ASC to optimize efficiency and patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with physical therapy, PM&R, sports medicine, imaging, and ancillary service teams to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
• Work closely with Advanced Practice Providers, surgical coordinators, and clinical staff to ensure exceptional patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation while adhering to quality, compliance, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in practice growth through physician relationship development, community outreach, and educational initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Eligible for Iowa medical licensure and DEA registration
• Strong clinical and surgical expertise in General Orthopedic Surgery

Preferred

• Fellowship training in Sports Medicine, Trauma, Adult Reconstruction, Foot & Ankle, or Hand Surgery, or significant experience practicing comprehensive General Orthopedics
• Interest in a physician-owned private practice and partnership-track model
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to long-term practice growth, collaboration, and community engagement
