Key Job Responsibilities:

• Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, undergraduate students and residents in research

• Participate in department teaching and mentoring responsibilities

• Engage in academic and professional service at the departmental, institutional, and national levels

• Collaborate across disciplines to advance interdisciplinary research initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

• For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on tenure track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the UW Divisional Committee guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the tenure track.

Education:

• At the time of offer, applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (or a closely related field) - OR - a M.D., D.O. (or equivalent) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (or a closely related field)

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an experienced researcher to fill a newly established Associate/Full Professor tenure-track position. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative department that values research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education of the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is a nationally recognized leader in clinical care and research. Our department covers the following areas:

• Voice and voice disorders
• Swallowing and swallowing disorders (dysphagia)
• Hearing and hearing loss/audiology
• Head and neck oncology and surgical outcomes
• Pediatric sleep apnea and airway disorders
• Rhinology and sinus disease
• Otology and neurotology
• Laryngology and airway management

As an interdisciplinary academic research institution, our department actively fosters collaborative research across specialty areas and with colleagues throughout the university and healthcare system. The successful candidate will contribute to the expanding research portfolio of DOHNS and participate in teaching graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows. This includes participation in our NIDCD-funded T32 training program.
