The Stollery Children's Hospital is home to Western Canada's pediatric liver and multivisceral transplant programs. The division provides care for children with complex gastrointestinal, nutritional, hepatic, and transplant-related conditions and offers access to advanced endoscopic services, dedicated transplant resources, nutrition support programs, and a well-established fellowship training program. This role provides the opportunity to influence clinical innovation, support the growth of academic programs, and help train future leaders in pediatric gastroenterology.

The successful applicant will join 9 highly collegial, academic pediatric gastroenterology physicians as well as a dedicated group of multidisciplinary allied health.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care for patients presenting to the Stollery Children’s Hospital for gastroenterological care with a primary focus on liver diseases and liver transplantation.
• Education and Mentorship: Teach and mentor learners at all levels in clinical and academic settings.
• Research Contribution: Advance the division’s research portfolio in liver diseases, including facilitating funding opportunities, promoting academic productivity, and supporting faculty in achieving high-impact publications. Successfully compete for research funding and maintain an active, independent research program that contributes to the division’s academic strength.

Academic and Research Opportunities:

​

This tenure-track position includes substantial protected academic time for teaching, leadership, program development, and research. Candidates with established or emerging research interests in hepatology, transplantation, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition, or other areas of pediatric gastroenterology will find strong institutional support and opportunities for collaboration.

Required Qualifications:

• Board Certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology
• Additional specialization in hepatology and liver transplantation
• Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
• Commitment to education, research, mentorship, and multidisciplinary care
• Completed residency training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Gastroenterology with additional specialization in hepatology and liver transplantation. Ability to cover the liver and transplant service is essential.
