Rush Heart & Vascular, part of the Rush University System for Health, invites applications for the position of Heart & Vascular Service Line Manager, Advanced Practice Provider.
Job Summary:
The Manager, Advanced Practice Providers (APP) - Heart & Vascular Service Line is a licensed Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) responsible for the leadership, operational oversight, and management of APPs across the Rush Heart & Vascular service line. This role supports comprehensive cardiovascular care across inpatient, outpatient, procedural, consultative, and specialty cardiac programs.
The APP Manager partners closely with physician, nursing, and operational leadership to advance strategic priorities, optimize APP practice models, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care. Responsibilities include:
- APP workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention
- Performance management and professional development
- Oversight of staffing, scheduling, and clinical deployment
- Advancement of quality, operational, and patient care initiatives
- Development and optimization of APP practice models across Heart & Vascular Services
This role also maintains a clinical practice component to support ongoing competency and engagement in cardiovascular patient care. The position includes a minimum of 0.4 FTE protected administrative time, dependent upon the number of direct reports and additional leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of Advanced Practice Provider experience in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, or Interventional Radiology required.
- Leadership/management experience is preferred.
- APRN candidates must possess Acute Care Certification.
- This role reports directly to the Director of Advanced Practice Providers and has an indirect reporting relationship to the Heart & Vascular Service Line Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
- Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular patient care, APP practice management, and interdisciplinary collaboration strongly preferred.
Position Requirements:
Nurse Practitioner:
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position
- Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
- CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Physician Assistant:
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
- Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Compensation Details
$162K–$212K
Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, specialty; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Additional compensation may include premium pay rates, sign-on bonuses, and relocation allowances. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
