  • The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and MUSC Health are seeking a visionary and experienced physician leader to serve as the Founding Program Director for a new Family Medicine Residency Program based at MUSC Health – Kershaw Medical Center in Camden, South Carolina.

    This is a unique opportunity to build a new residency program from the ground up and play a vital role in shaping the next generation of Family Medicine physicians in South Carolina’s rapidly growing Midlands region. The program is expected to welcome its inaugural class of eight residents in 2028, joining MUSC Health’s expanding Graduate Medical Education (GME) network.

    The Program Director will lead all aspects of program development and administration, ensuring compliance with ACGME accreditation standards while fostering a culture of excellence, mentorship, and innovation in clinical education.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee a new Family Medicine Residency Program.
    • Provide vision and leadership for curriculum design, resident recruitment, and faculty development.
    • Ensure compliance with MUSC Health – Regional Network policies and ACGME accreditation requirements.
    • Teach, supervise, and evaluate residents in alignment with ACGME core competencies.
    • Provide direct patient care as part of the Family Medicine faculty practice, including participation in call coverage.
    • Collaborate with MUSC Health’s academic and community partners to enhance resident learning experiences.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, scholarly activity, and leadership development programs.
    • Foster a collegial, supportive environment that promotes professional growth and resident well-being.
