Physician - Palliative Medicine

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Palliative Medicine Physician in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.

About the Role

• Join a well-established, highly integrated Palliative Medicine Section that is consulted by nearly every clinical service across Rush University Medical Center.
• Work within the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, providing access to the resources, mentorship, academic infrastructure, and interdisciplinary collaboration of a larger division.

Additional Highlights
* Collaborate closely with clinical teams across the medical center, including oncology, neurology, cardiology, critical care, geriatrics, and other medical and surgical specialties.
* Care for a remarkably diverse patient population across a broad spectrum of serious illness, including advanced cancer, neurologic disease, heart failure, critical illness, and complex multimorbidity.
* Maintain a strong focus on interdisciplinary education, teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and interprofessional learners.
* Serve as core clinical faculty for our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, a joint program with neighboring Cook County Health.
* Collaborate with local hospice partners to provide GIP-level hospice care through an inpatient scatterbed model.
* Pursue opportunities for program development and leadership as the Palliative Medicine Section continues to evolve and expand its clinical and academic footprint.
* Participate in quality improvement, medical education, workforce development, clinician well-being, and academic research based on individual interests.
* Provide mentorship and continuing education within the Rush University Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical institution
• Board-eligible or Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
• Valid Illinois medical license or ability to obtain licensure
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Interest in clinical education, program development, scholarship, quality improvement, or academic leadership is welcomed; candidates interested in presenting and publishing regionally or nationally are encouraged to apply
