Palliative Care Medical Director- Inova Fairfax Medical Campus 

The  Palliative Care division is looking for a dedicated Palliative Medical Director to join the team. The physician will provide inpatient Palliative Care services at our Inova Fairfax location. Inova Palliative Care is growing our team at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus to best care for the health care needs of the growing population. Sign on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Program Features: 

The Palliative Medicine & Comprehensive Care program at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus consists of an interdisciplinary team of 5 physicians, 2 advance practice providers, 2 social workers, a palliative RN, a hospice coordinator, and a chaplain. Our comprehensive, expert team provides specialty consultation throughout the 923- bed hospital campus with a strong focus on both advanced symptom management and serious illness communication. We are seeking a full time Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certified physician to join our team in a leadership role. This position will provide clinical expertise and mentorship within our team, grow collaborative relationships across the campus, and ensure optimization of team processes. We are looking for a leader who desires to foster growth and support the unique professional development needs of each team member. This leader will join the palliative medical directors of the Inova eastern and western region hospitals to work with the system chief on continuous quality improvement.

Requirements: 

  • Work schedule: Monday thru Friday – Consult based only 
  • Education: An MD or DO from an accredited university medical school, Completed ACGME residency training and subsequent fellowship, board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine 
  • Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in the practice of hospice and palliative medicine OR at least 5 years' experience in the practice of another primary specialty   
  • At least 2 years’ experience in leadership role   
  • Licensure: Current or eligibility for an unrestricted Virginia state medical license and DEA
