The VA Providence Healthcare System is dedicated to providing high quality outpatient and inpatient health care to Veterans residing in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Each veteran who comes to the Providence Medical Center and the associate Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) for care is assured personalized care. A Primary Care Provider coordinates each patient's medical care, patient education needs, and referrals to any of the 32 subspecialty clinics.

The Medical Center's Ambulatory Care Program is supported by a general medical, surgical, and psychiatric inpatient facility fully-accredited by The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC). The medical center delivers a broad range of services in medicine, surgery, and behavioral sciences and is currently operating 73 beds.

Major Duties/Responsibilities for this Position include but are not limited to:

  1. This is a Hospitalist role required to work the night shift defined as varying between 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Clinical assessment is comprehensive (i.e., includes mandatory elements) and timely (i.e., meets specific timeframe and local requirements established in medical bylaws).
  • The treatment plan is evidence-based (e.g., VA/DoD guidelines or other approved practice standards) and reflects shared decision-making between the practitioner and the Veteran.
  • If indicated by policy, informed consent is completed and signed prior to a procedure or treatment, and the practitioner identifies and discusses risks, benefits, and potential complications.
  • Timely, appropriate, and guideline concordant (if applicable) empiric antimicrobial selection.
  • Counseling on tobacco cessation prior to discharge.
  • Closed ICU

Work Schedule: Full Time. Nights vary, 7p-7a

U.S. Citizenship, M.D. or D.O., and a full, active, and unrestricted license are required. BE/BC in Internal Medicine is preferred.

Compensation Details

$275K–$295K

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Eligible: EDRP is a student loan reimbursement program valued at up to $200,000. Eligibility requirements apply.
