Ascension Illinois is looking for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Hospitalist for our Pediatric Hospitalist Department.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Illinois to provide medical services to patients.

Position Highlights:

• PRN
• 100% Inpatient
• High acuity
• Busy Pediatric Hospitalist Service
• Nice mix of 10 hr and 24 hr in-house shifts
• See patients on General Pediatric Floor and Pediatric Nursery
• Some PICU coverage
• Occasional delivery room coverage and ER consultations as needed
• 24 Pediatric beds
• 8 PICU beds
• 30 Pediatric Nursery beds
• Level III NICU and PICU
• Excellent support staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
• Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
• Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
• Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
