Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Trauma Medical Director / Acute Care Surgeon to lead our busy, well-established Level I Trauma program. This is an exceptional opportunity to step into a mature, high-performing team within a nationally recognized hospital.

• Board certification in General Surgery
• Board certification in Surgical Critical Care
• Current ATLS certification
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Prior experience as a Trauma Medical Director or Associate Director at an ACS Level I or II center
• Comfortable with a hybrid role that includes ~40% administrative leadership
• Please note: visa support is not available for this role.
• Equal mix of trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery
• No 24‑hour shifts;
  • Day shifts: 10.5 hours
  • Night shifts: 13.5 hours
• Large, cohesive, and long-standing team with minimal turnover
• Excellent collegiality and flexibility around time-off requests
• Surgical residency with opportunities for teaching
• Strong resident and APP support across all services
• Research resources available locally and through HCA’s National Center for Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Research
