The Tulane Department of Anesthesiology offers a categorical 4-year residency program to applicants seeking a robust clinical and educational experience. The PGY-1 internship is affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine, during which time residents are allowed a variety of electives (including Anesthesiology). CA-1 and CA-2 residents are assigned progressively challenging clinical cases and complete rotations in all major subspecialties. CA-3 year allows for a significant amount of autonomy and elective time. Our residents are very involved on the local, regional, and national levels, holding various leadership roles in the ASA and other organizations. We encourage and provide support for travel to national meetings to participate in committees and present scholarly work. We also offer the opportunity to complete an MBA at Tulane Business School during residency. Tulane is well suited for applicants who are interested in a clinically rigorous program with multiple opportunities to develop strong leadership skills.
