Stanford Anesthesiology residency aims to provide the environment and resources to help residents fulfill their highest professional potential. The goal is to develop outstanding clinical anesthesiologists and leaders, who have additional expertise in areas like research, global health equity, health advocacy, quality improvement, or medical education. There are many exciting things going on at Stanford Anesthesiology! We just graduated another group of extraordinary residents who are able to care for the sickest patients in all parts of the hospital, all over the country. We offer two unique combined residency training programs, Pediatrics-Anesthesiology and Internal Medicine-Anesthesiology. We have innovative educational programs such as a comprehensive point of care ultrasound curriculum, both simulation education as well as immersive augmented reality education, daily 15 minute lecture series (libero), the perioperative medicine rotation, and a robust wellness program that includes summer and winter retreats. There is ongoing growth in all clinical areas allowing for deep exposure to all subspecialties and pathway opportunities to gain more education and expertise in global health equity, advocacy, QI, and research.
