The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Internal Medicine program is proud to train the next generation of leaders in academic medicine. We harness resources from a world-class research university and Department of Medicine ranked #5 and #6 respectively in NIH funding. US News ranks UPMC Presbyterian as the #1 hospital in Pennsylvania. Additionally, as the region’s largest referral center, resident services are populated by high acuity and diverse caseloads. Our nationally renowned transplant divisions also provide unique educational opportunities for our residents. Program highlights include 1) unparalleled senior resident autonomy including resident-run rounds 2) customized tracks in general internal medicine, women’s health, global health, and geriatrics as well as clinician-scientist and research pathway tracks 3) expertise in medical education with a program director and core faculty with Masters degrees in medical education 4) commitment to supporting resident research with a dedicated research chief resident and diversity of faculty projects.
