MUSC General Surgery Residency provides a broad, resident-focused, academic training experience. Our nationally and internationally prominent teaching faculty possess a depth of surgical knowledge and experience and offer exposure to complex surgical cases. Residents rotate through diverse clinical settings: University campus, a level I Children’s Hospital, VA and surrounding community hospitals. We provide a comprehensive training program that encompasses the entire breadth of core general surgery and its subspecialties without competition from fellows. Our program offers a flexible curriculum with the option of dedicated research time. MUSC is the only major cancer referral center and Level 1 trauma center in the region offering innovative procedures and treatments with a diverse patient population. The department of surgery is committed to health and wellness. We attract a diverse resident group of the best and brightest from around the country.
