Our residency program features a balanced and individualized “choose-your-own-adventure” non-tracked curriculum in a supportive resident-driven learning environment. The recently expanded 8-story Penn State Health Children’s Hospital has been consistently ranked by US News and the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. It is home to the only PICU, intermediate care unit, and Level IV NICU in our region. Our large catchment area offers a wide array of patient diversity, acuity, and complexity from urban, suburban, and rural areas. We also serve the unique patient population of the Milton Hershey School. Hershey, located 13 miles from the state capital of Harrisburg, is an easy and affordable place to live, where residents are able to rent apartments or purchase homes in safe neighborhoods with highly rated public schools all within a stress-free commute of the hospital. The Harrisburg/Hershey area is ranked #38 in the 2024 U.S. News “Best Places to Live” rankings.
