Ophthalmology Residency Program · Winston Salem, NC
Our ophthalmology residency training program is a busy, hands-on experience. There is no shortage of clinical and surgical opportunities at our main hospital/clinic and network of Veterans Administration Hospitals and Clinics. The faculty is full-time, on site, available, and dedicated to teaching residents. Residents and faculty work side-by-side within the same facilities. One unique feature of the program is the Comprehensive Eye Service, in which residents care for their own population of patients for the duration of their training. Graduating residents universally comment that they were “ready and well-prepared” for private practice or fellowship. With four residents each year, we are large enough to have a dedicated consult/ER service, urgent clinic, and night float call system; but also small enough to provide personalized attention to our residents and a friendly atmosphere of mutual respect between faculty and residents, making this an enjoyable place to learn and work.
