Services offered at The Ohio State University Department of Urology are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report. The department offers three competitive internships each year. A five-year program begins with a pre-urology year, making the PGY2 year the first full year in urology. Residents learn core skills utilized in ambulatory settings such as placing catheters, understanding and performing endoscopy and learning basic urodynamic testing. Research is an important part of the training experience, so trainees receive didactics in research through Resident Research Curriculum. This interactive series includes monthly sessions on important topics including regulatory processes, hypothesis generation, data collection, and analyses and manuscript development. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through various hospital settings including The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Ohio State East Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and on the Consult Service.
