OverviewThe mission of the Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, is to provide outstanding education and practical experience in every aspect of laboratory medicine and pathology, in order to prepare graduates to excel in any practice setting. Unique program opportunities include: -Two program tracks: Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency (AP/CP) with six residency positions each year and the Anatomic and Neuropathology Pathology Pathway (AP/NP) with one position each year-Additional research opportunities through the physician-scientist research track and the clinical-investigator training program-Access to material received through our highly active surgical pathology consult practice (more than 60,000 expert consultations a year) -Laboratory specimens received through Mayo Clinic Laboratories-Consultative expertise and cutting-edge technologies required to evaluate those specimens-A small residency class size (28 total residents) relative to the faculty size (60 anatomic pathology faculty members and 58 clinical pathology faculty members) -Extensive curriculum of lectures, conferences, journal clubs, and seminars-Intensive training in the unique Mayo Clinic frozen section laboratory, developed at Mayo Clinic more than a century ago, which has been successfully utilized ever since (learn more about our frozen section laboratory by reading our rotation descriptions and frequently asked questions) -Unique seminars in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology's Leadership and Management Course (Mayo Clinic is committed to training future leaders in medicine and has worked with our department to develop a curriculum in leadership and management specifically geared for pathology residents and fellows) -Numerous fellowship training programs offered in the department-Elective rotations at Mayo Clinic's campuses in Arizona and Florida-Community pathology rotations in southeast Minnesota or Wisconsin with Mayo Clinic Health System-Elective international rotations in underserved communities through Mayo International Health Program (MIHP)
