The University of Florida pathology residency program is dedicated to training excellent pathologists well equipped to practice in a wide variety of settings. We have strong balanced AP/CP training, robust and interactive didactics, lots of grossing support (currently NINE PAs across Shands and the VA who enjoy teaching), rotatation in both subspecialty and general surgical pathology signout setups, engaged and caring faculty, numerous electives including a private practice experience, ample research oppurtunities, individual resident workspaces, a dedicated pathology resident longue with large TV, a dedicated resident digital slide scanner, numerous fellowships (hematopathology, transfusion medicine, cytopathology, GI pathology, general surgical pathology, neuropathology), regular resident well-being/social events including the annual Peter Drew tailgate, and a generous book fund. House-staff at UF also receive excellent benefits such as GatorBites food stipend, and GatorCare health insurance (premiums paid by UF, no paycheck deductions). There is NO state income tax in Florida as well!
