Pathology (Anatomic & Clinical) Residency Program · Columbus, OH
Four new residents are accepted into the Pathology Residency Program each year. The combined anatomic pathology/clinical pathology core curriculum is a four-year program supplemented with morning lectures on a two-year cycle and glass slide study sets in surgical pathology and cytology as well as in digital imaging cases. Residents have teaching and presentation opportunities (tumor boards, case conferences, medical professional education), and research opportunities are available and encouraged within and outside of the department. Dedicated clinical pathology rotations include chemistry/toxicology, microbiology, cytogenetics, molecular pathology, transfusion medicine/apheresis, flow cytometry, coagulation and hematopathology. The Ohio State University Department of Pathology accessions approximately 70,000 surgical specimens per year, so residents are exposed to a wide variety of common and rare specimens. These opportunities have led residents to have a 100% first time board pass rate for the past five years.
