As part of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University, the Urology Institute's mission is to enhance human health through excellence in medical education, biomedical research and clinical care. Our Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Urology Residency Program is based on a strong foundation of both resident and medical student education. Since 1939, our program has trained urology residents for successful careers as both leaders in academic and private practice urology. University Hospitals Urology Institute faculty are committed to equipping each resident with the skills and knowledge necessary to become excellent surgeons and compassionate physicians. Residents receive instruction in all urologic subspecialty disciplines in a variety of clinical settings as well as a dedicated year to explore urologic research. Upon completion of training, our graduates successfully match into some of the most competitive fellowships and are aggressively recruited by top practices for rewarding urologic careers! Our program is honored to attract a diverse group of budding urologists with widely different backgrounds from around the country and beyond. 50% percent of urology residents at University Hospitals are women, compared to an industry average of 27%; 50% represent minority groups, and a variety of languages are fluently spoken amongst them.
