University of Florida Department of Ophthalmology is located in Gainesville, Florida and is one of the top ophthalmology programs in the nation. The residents receive a wide variety of clinical and surgical experiences at two VA hospitals, a children’s hospital, and private practice clinics. Our residents have exceptional surgical numbers including 300-400 primary cataracts per resident, as well as comprehensive exposure to premium IOLs, Laser assisted cataract surgery, LASIK and PRK. We have outstanding clinical and research faculty who are easily accessible and support our residents in the clinic, the OR, on call, and performing research. After completing residency at UF Gainesville, you will be fully prepared for a successful comprehensive ophthalmology career or to match at any number of top fellowship programs in the country. Gainesville is a pleasant city with low cost of living and plenty of great outdoor activities 365 days a year.
