Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program · Chapel Hill, NC
The Orthopaedic Residency Program at UNC offers a balanced, comprehensive education in general orthopaedics with broad sub-specialty exposure. Our goal is to prepare residents for success in both academic and community practice, whether in general orthopaedics or further sub-specialty training. We emphasize education over apprenticeship, focusing on strong basic science, individualized learning, continuity of care, and understanding the “why” behind clinical decisions. Training occurs in both a major tertiary care center and a community hospital, exposing residents to diverse patient populations and practice environments. This variety fosters independent clinical judgment and helps residents make informed career choices. The program supports personal and professional growth through faculty mentorship, clinical responsibility, and educational opportunities. Our residents are bright, dedicated, and patient-centered. With over 60 years of excellence, we’re proud of our tradition and invite you to explore what makes UNC a strong foundation for your career in orthopaedic surgery.
