The mission of the Pediatric Residency Program at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is to educate and support a group of diverse residents in an environment of innovation, collaboration, and discovery. Our graduates are exceptional pediatricians equipped to succeed in their unique career paths promoting the health and wellness of children and communities. Our program is the only pediatric residency based at a freestanding tertiary care children’s hospital in more than a 100 mile radius – assuring volume and variety of patients in one of the most livable cities in the US. Nationally and internationally acclaimed programs in organ transplantation, adolescent medicine, endocrinology, cardiology and infectious disease provide opportunity for superb clinical training. We sponsor one of the largest scientist tracks in the country, with two thirds of residents matching into prestigious fellowships around the country.
