If you are interested in blending clinical practice, public health, and systems change in your practice, and you care about protecting workers and communities from health hazards, then Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) is a great career choice. OEM has low rates of burnout, high career satisfaction, and lots of career flexibility. The mission of the UCSF OEM residency is to prepare physicians for practice and leadership roles in a wide range of settings, including academic, clinical, governmental, non-governmental, consulting, or corporate practice. Our two-year program includes a fully-supported Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree from U.C. Berkeley, and both clinical and non-clinical rotations. Our large full-time and affiliated faculty offer mentorship to residents interested in topics ranging from clinical occupational injury treatment and prevention, to cutting-edge issues related to toxic chemicals and climate change.
