The anesthesiology residency program at Stony Brook University Hospital offers exceptional training in all aspects of anesthesia care including the more specialized practices of Level 1 trauma, high-risk OB, complex pain, open heart, pediatric, thoracic and acute stroke surgical management. The program values education and organizes their didactic activities on all-day Education Days where residents are excused from clinical work to focus on learning and retention of new information. Our resident graduates feel very comfortable and competent when transitioning to independent practice and/or fellowship. All residents pursuing fellowship have matched in their subspecialty of interest during the past 10 years. Our graduates get jobs in the geographical locations that they desire. The 4-year program accepts 12 residents per year and offers a supportive culture and organized wellness activities. Stony Brook is located in between Manhattan and the Hamptons.
