NYU Grossman School of Medicine
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program · New York, NY
Rusk Rehabilitation at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers a three-year advanced residency training program focused on achieving broad clinical competency in PM&R and training future leaders in our field. We recruit twelve residents per year. During the program, residents treat patients with diverse pathologies across the socioeconomic and age spectrums. Training sites include Bellevue Hospital (the nation’s oldest public hospital), perennially top-ranked Rusk Rehabilitation sites (such as Langone Orthopedic Hospital, Tisch Hospital, NYU Brooklyn and outpatient sites), and the Manhattan and Brooklyn Veterans Affairs hospitals. At each location, dedicated faculty help residents gain inpatient, outpatient, and procedural skills. Additionally, we offer an acupuncture certification track during PGY3 and PGY4 years. Currently, NYU has one of the lowest call schedules in the country, with calls varying by location and year of training. Outside of clinical hours, our residents engage in a comprehensive didactic curriculum and in specialized career interest groups. Residents are also supported in completing either a research or quality improvement project (to meet ACGME requirements) while we simultaneously integrate research education into the didactics curriculum. The department offers 1-year fellowships in both Sports Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine for those interested in applying.
