Psychiatry Residency Program · Port Jefferson, NY
The Mather Psychiatry Residency Program, under the direction of Dr. Jenna Taglienti, along with Associate Program Directors Dr. Joanna Stanczak and Dr. Jessica Cosgrove, offers a comprehensive, community-based training experience. Focused on developing well-rounded clinicians, the program provides robust training with a diverse patient population within a variety of on-site settings. These include acute inpatient adult and adolescent units, a Rapid Access Center, consult service, adult and adolescent partial hospital programs (including eating disorders), a mental health clinic, chemical dependency program, and esketamine service. Residents gain early exposure to outpatient psychiatry starting in their PGY-2 year. With a commitment to ongoing educational enhancement, the program is being redesigned to feature earlier and more extensive outpatient experiences, along with increased elective time. This includes a child psychiatry rotation in PGY-1 and expanded elective opportunities during PGY-2, allowing residents to explore their interests and make informed fellowship choices. Mather residents have successfully pursued fellowships in various sub-specialties, including child, forensic, geriatric, consult-liaison, pain, and addiction psychiatry, and have gone on to careers in both academic and outpatient settings. As part of Northwell Health, residents benefit from extensive resources and a wide network of elective sites. Mather's Psychiatry residency program offers the best of both worlds: A rich clinical experience in a supportive, community-based environment. Resident feedback is valued and sought out frequently in order to enhance the program.
