    The University of Minnesota seeks an MD/DO physician, board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics & Genomics, to lead the Division of Pediatric Genetics & Metabolism. This role includes potential leadership of the Rare Disease Center of Excellence.

    Position Highlights

    • Leadership of the Pediatric Genetics Division, with opportunity to direct the Rare Disease Center of Excellence.
    • Up to 60% clinical care for children and adults.
    • 30% effort developing the Division into a leader in genetic and genomic research.
    • Teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents, and fellows.
    • Collaborate across pediatrics and adult medicine to provide lifespan care for genetic disorders.
    • Lead a team of:
    • 6 geneticists & 1 pediatric APP
    • 10 genetic counselors
    • Partner with the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and other specialty programs.
    • Care for a diverse patient population across Minnesota and the region—the largest genetics service in the state.

    Research & Collaboration Opportunities

    • Established research in molecular/cellular basis of rare diseases, novel diagnostics/therapies, or genomic technologies.
    • Collaborate with: Gene Therapy Center, Institute for Personalized Medicine, Lysosomal Disease Network, Mucopolysaccharidosis Center, ALD & Leukodystrophy Center, UMN Genomics Center, and Center for Orphan Drug Research.

    About the Department

    • Over 380 full-time faculty, top 10 nationally in NIH funding.
    • Care provided at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital (opened 2011).
    • Strong support for faculty development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Pediatric residency & Pediatric-Medical Genetics fellowship (or Internal Medicine/Internal Medicine-Medical Genetics with pediatric experience).
    • Board-certified/eligible (ABMGG, ABIM, or ABP).
    • Eligible for Minnesota medical license and DEA.
    • Demonstrated leadership, research success, and ability to build partnerships.
    • Preferred: Prior leadership in rare disease programs.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary range: $146,500–$333,600 (commensurate with experience & effort).
    • Substantial 401K employer contribution.
    • CME/licensure/DEA allowance.
