Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Part-Time Coverage in Dearborn, MI – ASAP Start, Temp Privileges Available

Dearborn-Surgery (Cardiac Surgery) is actively seeking a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon (MD/DO) for locum tenens coverage due to a provider on leave.

We need reliable part-time physician support to maintain high-quality cardiac surgical services at our facility in Dearborn, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surgeon looking for flexible, in-hospital locums work with strong APP support.

Key Assignment Details:

• Start Date: ASAP (immediate availability preferred)
• Duration: Ongoing / open-ended (initially through unknown end date, with potential for extension)
• Coverage Needed: Approximately 1 week per month (7 shifts/month target), with possibility for additional dates
• Schedule:
  • Primarily Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
  • Orientation shifts required initially
  • Potential for on-call shifts (details to be discussed based on need)
• Workload & Role Focus:
  • In-hospital support including consults, surgical case support (primarily CABG), and TAVR assistance
  • Rounding: Approximately 30 minutes per session (intensivists handle formal ICU rounds)
  • 24/7 CV Surgery APP support available in the HV ICU
• Procedures/Skills:
  • Surgical backup for TAVR and CABG
  • No aortic dissections performed at Dearborn (routed to Royal Oak)
• Privileges: Temporary privileges and emergency privileges available to expedite onboarding
• Experience Requirement: Minimum 5 years of post-residency experience
• Board Status: Board Certified (only)
• Geographic Restrictions: None – open to qualified candidates nationwide
• Credentials Accepted: Physician (MD/DO)

This role prioritizes providing essential in-hospital cardiothoracic support in a collaborative environment with dedicated APP coverage in the cardiovascular ICU. No heavy ICU management required.
