Neurology Stroke Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) Tucson, AZ

The Department of Neurology at The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson in collaboration with Banner - University Medicine Tucson is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our expanding outpatient Stroke Program within the Tucson Neurology team at Banner University Medical Center Tucson (BUMCT). This newly created position focuses on providing comprehensive outpatient care to patients within our stroke program. We welcome both experienced practitioners and new graduates eager to specialize in stroke care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including detailed neurological examinations, for patients with stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about stroke prevention, treatment options, and rehabilitation strategies.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay abreast of the latest advancements in stroke care.
Qualifications:
- Current board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Active DEA license, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative, team-based care.
- While prior experience in neuroscience is advantageous, we encourage new graduates with a passion for neurology to apply.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position with a 40-hour workweek.
- No weekend or major holiday shifts, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
