Interventional Cardiologist/Complex High Risk & Chronic Total Occlusion Director | Generous Schedule & Bonus

MCW is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to lead our Complex High-Risk Interventional Procedures (CHIP) & Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) Program. This is a senior physician-leader role with dedicated cath lab resources & demonstrated case volume that will lead a regional & national referral center.

We will consider candidates across 2 tracks:

1) Established CHIP/CTO operators, and

2) Exceptional early-career interventional cardiologists or graduating fellows with dedicated CTO training who will join with a defined development pathway leading to directorship

Under prior dedicated leadership, this program supported 200+ complex coronary & CTO cases annually, and was the highest sustained CHIP/CTO volumes in the region. The referral pipeline, hybrid OR access, mechanical circulatory support availability, & integrated Heart Team are already in place. The next Director steps into a program with proven volume, and is positioned to grow it further.

Our academic cardiovascular practice includes more than 60 cardiologists across general, interventional, structural, EP, AHF, & imaging subspecialties, supported by an ACGME interventional cardiology fellowship. The cath lab operates a comprehensive complex coronary & structural heart portfolio, and is an active site for industry-sponsored & investigator-initiated trials.

This position will work alongside the Cardiac Cath Lab and Structural Heart Disease Program Medical Director in a collaborative, growth-oriented division. This position provides strategic, clinical, academic, & operational leadership including:

• Clinical leadership including hybrid algorithm case selection, pre-procedural planning, & Heart Team coordination
• Strategic vision & execution for program growth, regional referral development, & outreach
• Oversight of evidence-based protocols
• Direction of the educational curriculum for fellows
• Leadership in clinical trials, registry participation, & scholarly productivity
• BC/BE in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
• Eligible for WI medical licensure
• Fellowship training, or focused CHIP/CTO experience
• For candidates entering directly into the directorship: demonstrated personal procedural volume consistent with a program leader, typically 100+ complex/high-risk PCI cases per year with substantial CTO experience
• For early-career candidates & graduating fellows: dedicated CHIP/CTO fellowship training or substantial experience during fellowship
• Track record in program development, education, & scholarly contribution in complex coronary intervention
• Comfort with mechanical circulatory support, intravascular imaging, calcium modification, and contemporary CTO equipment & strategy

For outstanding fellows and early-career interventional cardiologists with dedicated CHIP/CTO training, we will provide a structured development pathway to directorship including:

• Joining the program as a CHIP/CTO interventional cardiologist with proctored, high-volume case experience
• Mentored progression to assume the named directorship at agreed-upon milestones, with full directorship authority and stipend
• Faculty mentorship from the Medical Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and Structural Heart leadership
• Named directorship with defined authority, a renewable 3-year term, & a stipend
• Protected time for program development, quality oversight, & scholarly activity
• Established referral base and 200+ annual case volume
• Dedicated cath lab time & access to contemporary CHIP/CTO technology
