Outpatient Psychiatrist – Veterans Affairs Health Services

Position Overview: The Memphis VA Medical Clinics are seeking a full-time Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to provide compassionate and high-quality mental health care to our veteran population. Join a multidisciplinary team of psychologists and LCSWs in a supportive outpatient setting, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who’ve served.

💰 Compensation & Benefits: W-2 Option:

• Base Salary: $350,000
• 26 days PTO (3 weeks vacation + 11 federal holidays) — potential to negotiate up to 4 weeks PTO
• Health, Dental, Vision, and Retirement Benefits included
• Malpractice Insurance provided

1099 Option:

• $190/hour

🩺 Job Responsibilities:

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and manage treatment for mental health conditions in an outpatient setting
• Conduct 1-hour new patient evaluations and 30-minute follow-up visits
• Collaborate closely with psychologists and social workers
• Maintain accurate records using CPRS EMR system
• Advocate for veteran mental health and promote wellness

👥 Patient Load:

• 10 patients/day
• 1-hour initial consults | 30-minute follow-ups

✅ Requirements:

• MD/DO degree with Psychiatry focus
• Recent experience (within past 6 months) in a mental health setting
• Board Certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Valid medical license from any U.S. state
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Current CV (with all gaps explained) and 3 references

📋 Required Health Documents & Certifications:

• MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus (Td), PPD, Flu shot
• BLS & ACLS Certification
• Fingerprint/background check required
• Privileging timeline: ~6 weeks
