Neurologist Role Overview:
The Neurologist provides comprehensive neurological care services to veterans, ensuring continuity of care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Reporting to the Chief of Medicine, the provider is a key clinical member within the medical center.
The provider will be responsible for the assessment and care of new and returning patients with neurological conditions. Responsibilities include performing neurological evaluations, consultations, and follow-up care, both for inpatients and outpatients. The provider will also participate in multidisciplinary team conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.
Responsibilities Include:
Veteran-Centered Care:
- Deliver comprehensive neurological services with an emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and management of neurological disorders.
- Promote shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Clinical Excellence:
- Perform neurological evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions.
- Manage preoperative and postoperative care for neurology patients.
- Conduct outpatient neurology clinics and provide inpatient consultations as needed.
Quality Improvement:
- Participate in continuous quality improvement projects to enhance the delivery of care.
- Utilize various quality measurement tools to monitor and improve clinical performance and patient outcomes.
Clinical Leadership:
- Serve as a mentor and role model for other healthcare providers within the neurology team.
- Engage in educational activities, providing guidance and support to residents, students, and other trainees.
Healthcare Coordination:
- Coordinate care for veterans involving specialty care, mental health services, and other ancillary services to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans for veterans.
Use of Technology:
- Utilize the VA's electronic medical record system for documentation, ordering of tests, and communication with patients and healthcare team members.

Compensation Details
