  • Job Summary: Alameda Health System is seeking a compassionate and skilled Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN) to join our Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. This full-time hospitalist/clinical role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality OB/GYN care in a safety-net health system, both inpatient (labor and delivery, gynecologic surgery, ER consults) and outpatient settings. You’ll work alongside an interdisciplinary team committed to equity, justice, and high-value reproductive health services for our community.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide inpatient labor & delivery coverage and acute gynecology service (ER consults, emergency GYN surgery) at Highland Hospital and associated hospitals.
    • Perform gynecologic surgeries and office-based obstetrics & gynecology, including preventive care.
    • Participate in collaborative, person-centered care models; contribute to systems like Centering Pregnancy, the C-Section Honor Roll, and the Opioid Care Honor Roll.
    • Train medical students (UCSF) and residents (Kaiser Oakland OB/GYN) during their rotations.
    • Work closely with Certified Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners to support both inpatient and outpatient services.
    • Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement efforts for patient care within the OB/GYN department.
    • Be available for GYN service attending weeks, night/home-based emergency backup, and other service coverage needs as needed to ensure patient safety (may exceed standard FTE hours, with extra compensation per departmental standards).

    Qualifications:

    • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
    • Board-eligible or Board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
    • Valid medical license to practice in California.
    • Valid DEA registration.
    • Demonstrated commitment to mission-driven care, particularly for vulnerable populations.
    • Ability to work flexibly, collaborate well with multidisciplinary teams, and continuously learn and improve clinical practice.

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    • Full-time position (FTE negotiable up to 1.0) with Alameda Health Medical Group (AHMG).
    • The role involves a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities at Highland Hospital and affiliated clinics.
    • Schedule may include attending weeks, emergency backup, and excess coverage when needed. Extra hours above the base schedule are compensated.

    Compensation Details

    $368-388k

    The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.
