Banner University Medical Group Tucson is seeking to hire a Lead Advanced Practice Provider (ACNP or PA) to support our Cardiothoracic Surgeons and team. In this position the Advanced Practice Provider will lead a team of APPs to ensure the clinical operations he or she represents are properly implemented and maintained. This leader will collaborate with the APPs, physicians, physician leaders, managers, and other local stakeholders to identify opportunities for practice improvement in the areas of clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and provider satisfaction.

In this team-oriented practice, we all help each other to provide great care to our patients. As one might think, open heart surgery can be stressful, so the ability to work under pressure is a must. We are a teaching institution and have many individuals learning simultaneously. Good communication skills and a calm demeanor are essential in this position. This is a satisfying and challenging environment and one that requires extremely detailed skills along with a positive attitude. This lead APP professional will assist the CT surgeons in the OR setting in a first assist capacity. The ideal candidate helps Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and collaborates with Residents, Fellows, and clinicians from the Cardiology, Thoracic, Transplant, Radiology, and Anesthesia departments. The candidate needs the ability to work independently in the hospital to maintain patient flow efficiency.

Position Details:

  • Full Time | Monday - Friday
  • Experience with EVH is preferred.
  • Predominantly in the OR taking conduit (vein, radial arteries), helping with prepping, draping, opening, closing, and transitioning patient safely to the ICU & other perioperative care.
  • Rotating OR call, including transplant.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in CT Surgery/OR experience preferred with leadership responsibilities.
  • RNFA or Surgical First Assist experience preferred
  • Current Board Certification
  • Current Arizona License
  • Current CPR, BLS, and ACLS.
  • Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substance.
