The University of Iowa Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa is adding BC/BE non-invasive cardiologist to an expanding division composed of diverse academic faculty with broad clinical and research interests. Appointment may be to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor and to either the clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track consistent with clinical experience and research interest. Appointment at the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered. The position is not eligible for university sponsorship for employment authorization.

Responsibilities include:

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Iowa is renowned for its excellence in patient care, education, and groundbreaking research. As part of the University of Iowa Health Care system, the division serves as the region’s leading provider of tertiary and quaternary cardiovascular care, offering services such as advanced imaging, electrophysiology, structural heart interventions, and heart failure management. Faculty are leaders in innovative research spanning molecular cardiology, electrophysiology, and integrative physiology, consistently contributing to advancements in cardiovascular medicine.

• Diagnose and manage cardiovascular conditions through patient consultations and medical history reviews.

• Perform and interpret non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, stress tests, and echocardiograms.

• Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans for heart health and disease prevention.

• Collaborate with primary care providers and other specialists for coordinated patient care.

• Educate patients on lifestyle changes, risk management, and medication adherence. Participate in departmental activities, including quality improvement initiatives, conferences, and continuing education. Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion.

Requirements:

• Applicants must have a medical degree (or equivalent) and successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology.

• Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiology (or equivalent international certification). Those trained outside the U.S. with comparable qualifications may also be considered.

• The selected candidate must be eligible for or already possess an active Iowa medical license.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in transthoracic echocardiography, advanced echocardiography along with cardiac MRI and/or CT is preferred.

• Evidence of a commitment to clinical teaching, clinical research and/or outcomes research is desired

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
