Seeking ENT Physician to support the Eastern Oklahoma VA Hospital in Muskogee, OK
Muskogee, OK
Otolaryngologist (ENT) – Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System
Transform lives—including your own. The Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS) is seeking a passionate Otolaryngologist (ENT) to join our growing team serving America's Veterans. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to practice high-quality ENT in a state-of-the-art environment, while enjoying professional balance, competitive benefits, and the chance to help shape the future of VA care in Oklahoma.
EOVAHCS is actively recruiting a full-time Otolaryngologist (MD or DO) to provide comprehensive care across two locations: the Muskogee VA Medical Center and the new Tulsa VA Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to join a busy, well-supported ENT practice serving a diverse patient population.
Position Highlights
The scope of practice includes general ENT with opportunities in sinus and rhinology, head and neck surgery, skin cancer excision, cosmetic skin flaps and reconstruction, and sinus/nasal surgery. The practice is busy, with a typical daily clinic schedule of 20–25 patients. Surgical volume averages three to four cases daily, with two full operative days per week and three clinic days. Additional OR time is available if desired, and providers have access to both a hospital operating room and a clinic-based OR for local procedures.
You will oversee your own patients, including histories, physicals, clinic visits, and surgical scheduling. A support team of two dedicated surgical schedulers and multiple Medical Support Assistants (MSAs) coordinates clinic and surgical logistics, while Physician Assistants provide inpatient consult coverage for general surgery, orthopedics, and vascular surgery. ENT patients, however, are seen directly by the Otolaryngologist.
The standard duty schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call responsibilities include two weeks of weekday calls per month, with no weekend calls required.
EOVAHCS maintains strong academic affiliations with Oklahoma State University (OSU) and the University of Oklahoma (OU). While research is not currently part of the role, there may be potential for resident teaching and academic involvement once the new Tulsa VA Hospital is fully operational.
Candidate Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Otolaryngology. Residents completing training and awaiting board certification are welcome to apply. U.S. citizenship is required; however, non-citizens (J-1, H1-B, or Green Card holders) may be considered for this hard-to-recruit specialty. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to providing high-quality, Veteran-centered care.
Compensation & Benefits
The position offers a competitive federal physician salary with the potential for annual performance bonuses. Physicians are eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides student loan repayment for qualifying candidates. The federal benefits package includes health, dental, vision, retirement, malpractice coverage, generous paid time off, and a CME allowance.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday.
· Must be a U.S. Citizen, Non-citizens will be considered if unable to find a US citizen.
· Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
· Board Certification in ENT. Board Eligibility may also be considered.
