Job Summary:
The Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL, or Fort Logan) is a 138-bed adult inpatient psychiatric facility located in Denver, CO. It is one of the State’s two mental health hospitals that serve an underrepresented patient population with serious mental health disorders.
As a Staff Physician, you will manage medical issues for psychiatric inpatients at Fort Logan, working closely with psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team. You’ll provide direct patient care and support Medical Services programs. Ideal candidates are experienced primary care physicians (family medicine, internal medicine, or related specialties) seeking meaningful work with a vulnerable population outside of corporate practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments
- Perform pre-admission screenings and health evaluations
- Provide general care coverage and respond to code-blue emergencies
- Collaborate with psychiatry teams and external consultants
- Support On-Duty physician training, orientation, and sign-out communication
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotation
- Contribute to employee health, infection control, and pandemic response
- Serve on committees, mentor staff, and support unit initiatives

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
● MD or DO Family Practice / Internal Medicine or other closely related specialty.
● Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine.
● Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Colorado
● DEA registration
● AHA BLS for Healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications:
● Board certification and five years post-graduate direct care experience in a primary care or closely related field
● Experience working with behavioral health patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry and the public.
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
● A team-player with exceptional interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a solutions-focused approach
Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Senior Instructor: $302,000 - $302,940
