Job Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking academically oriented, fellowship-trained Ophthalmology Faculty to join our growing team in Milwaukee, WI. We welcome applicants with expertise in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Retina and Vitreous Surgery, or Glaucoma.
These are open-rank, full-time faculty positions on the traditional or clinician-educator track. Successful candidates will deliver outstanding clinical care, contribute to medical education, and participate in academic and research initiatives aligned with MCW’s mission to improve, restore, and preserve sight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality medical and surgical ophthalmic care in your area of specialization (Comprehensive, Retina/Vitreous, or Glaucoma).
- Perform examinations, diagnostic testing, and surgical procedures as appropriate to your subspecialty.
- Deliver patient-centered care at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute, with potential outpatient coverage at Children’s Wisconsin, Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center, and select satellite clinics.
- Teach and mentor ophthalmology residents, fellows, medical students, and other trainees.
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees, conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to clinical and/or basic science research programs; start-up support may be available for qualified candidates.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellent continuity of care across specialties.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adhere to institutional and regulatory policies.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Retina & Vitreous Surgery or Glaucoma (for subspecialist candidates).
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Wisconsin.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, and academic collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with enthusiasm for contributing to MCW’s mission of advancing vision science and patient care.
- Research interest (clinical, translational, or basic science) is encouraged and may be supported.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time faculty appointment with opportunities for advancement.
- Primary practice location at the Froedtert & MCW Eye Institute; potential for outreach or satellite clinic coverage.
- Involvement in resident education and academic activities.
