  • Duke’s Division of Hematology within the Department of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity with a focus on non-malignant hematologic disease at the main campus in Durham, NC. Candidates must be BE/BC in hematology and have completed a residency in internal medicine or equivalent and a hematology fellowship.

    Our clinical programs are expanding, and we are actively seeking junior to mid-career faculty members interested in being part of Duke’s vibrant Hematology Division.

    We seek faculty members with a focus on clinical practice. Key clinical and research strengths include programs in Hemostasis & Thrombosis, Cytopenias, Myeloproliferative Neoplasms, Apheresis, and Sickle Cell Disease. Teaching opportunities are available across the spectrum of learners, including Hematology/Oncology fellows, interns, residents, and medical students. Physicians with a passion for clinical effort, educational activities, and/or research are encouraged to apply.

    Unique opportunities available within the Hematology Division:

    • A transition clinic with pediatrics for patients with sickle cell disease, as well as a shared clinic opportunity with maternal fetal medicine
    • Involvement with the clinical laboratory services (Coagulation and Platelet Antibody Laboratories; the Transfusion Service)
    • Opportunities for clinical effort and leading clinical research studies at off-campus locations
    • Participation in the apheresis service; a robust clinical service line and research program
    • Access to the Hemostasis & Thrombosis Core Laboratory in support of research efforts interfacing with Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, and other interdisciplinary collaborations
    • Increasing role for telehealth opportunities
